Accessible, Smart, and Integrated Healthcare Systems for Elderly and Disabled People

The world is witnessing a growing number of elderly and disabled individuals, many of whom live at home or are mobile. These individuals require accessible, flexible, and integrated healthcare to receive the treatment and support they need in an integrated manner, regardless of their location. The rapid advancements in healthcare and information technology over the past few decades led to a significant amount of research on providing integrated healthcare for everyone. A wide range of technologies are enabling the implementation of new services towards integrated healthcare, where diagnosis and treatment are tailored to individual patients. Health analytics and informatics, using massive data sets, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, machine learning, and high-performance computing, are indeed enabling optimized ways of disease diagnosis, management, prediction, as well as smart ways of care delivery. The STS (Accessible, Smart, and Integrated Healthcare Systems for Elderly and Disabled People) invites contributions from researchers and practitioners focusing on the design, development, testing, and application of information technologies to the healthcare sector. This includes pervasive, mobile, and ubiquitous healthcare systems; pandemic research; accessibility; usability and user experience of medical apps & devices; human behavior; integrated healthcare approaches; patient empowerment systems; eHealth data standards and interoperability (e.g., HL7/FHIR); medical device and clinical investigation regulatory frameworks; as well as privacy and security.
